From decoration to gastronomy, Paris covers all the arts

Paris is one of the prominent European capitals of culture and all forms of art. Thanks to the multitude of cultural and artistic events promised in the city’s summer programme, your holiday at the Hotel Sophie Germain will be filled with interest, fun and excitement! Among other high quality attractions and activities, we suggest that you discover interior decoration and design at its most artistic, courtesy of the Maison et Objet trade fair, or explore the fabulous flavours of world cuisine at the Festival of Gastronomy.

The Maison et Objet trade fair; exploring the realm of interior decoration

Scheduled to take place at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre from September 8th to 12th, 2017, this wide-ranging trade fair brings you face to face with the greatest contemporary designers of the moment. Inspired by the designs of the leading brands of the market, or via the hottest new trends, a wealth of concepts will be buzzing in your mind regarding ways to freshen up the look of your home after returning from your Parisian holiday. Under the scenography direction of Elizabeth Leriche, and with the interior designer Tristan Auer contributing his skills, this trade fair will be organised into three main areas. Maison offers an extensive selection of interior decoration ideas, whether cosy, retro or eclectic. Other halls, devoted to the Objet theme, will constitute the fair’s concept store. Finally, the Influences area will be dedicated to interior architecture, luxury and design. There will also be competitions, including the Rising Talent Awards, and various side events such as Ateliers d'Art de France, representing craftspeople, artists and craft companies, plus a look at eco-oriented design and recyclable materials for the environmentally aware.

A feast of flavours at the Festival of Gastronomy

UNESCO classified French gastronomy as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2010. Inspired by this recognition, in 2011 the Ministry of Economy collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture to organise a nation-wide event: the Fête de la Gastronomie. Such was its success that this festival has become an annual event. From September 22nd to 24th, 2017, this celebration of food and the culinary arts will bring together the general public and professionals from all over the country and beyond. Amidst the banquets, tastings, workshops, special lower-priced menus in top restaurants, and demonstrations by top chefs, you will have the opportunity to gather plenty of tips and recipes to bring home to your own kitchen, as well as discover and enjoy exotic dishes that you didn’t even know existed, as various cultural centres sponsor one-off celebrations of the cultural traditions of their respective countries. Come along and be a part of the delicious fun!
